Memory Lane

Wandering through the aisles,

Of memory lane,

The flickering lights went off,

My eyes closed,

The memories faded…

I was one…

one of many,

But for you, my love,

For you,

I was the only one…

The one that held the key

That opened all the doors.

Standing tall in my pride,

I regret forgetting you…

Forgetting me,

Forgetting who I was with you…

The memories imprinted in my veins,

Awaken my senses to a love once sacred,

But I cannot remember your name,

Nor your face,

Nor the moments we created together,

or the traces of the love you gave me…

Long ago, I drank the nectar of your love,

As one drinks water after an eternal walk in the desert,

Long ago…

I satiated the longing in my heart with your presence,

Life was filled with purpose,

The spring in my heart was blooming,

The love in my heart had your name…

And then, one day,

My eyes closed,

The flickering lights went off…

And I,

Walked alone through the spring of my heart,

While the memory of your love slowly faded away…

I can’t remember your name,

nor the love that you gave,

But the spring, my love,

The spring still blooming in my heart,

Even when your presence vanished in memory lane…
