I am more than restless shadows
More than a pile of wishes fluttering in my heart,
more than the hundred pounds of flesh and bones

Holding my spirit…
More that the depth of my thoughts

And the intensity of my feelings

Loves and grieves.

I am joy and sadness balanced on the scale,
reconciliation with the past
And excitement for the future…
I am more than the judgement
And fears that hold my spirit captive,
More than the life that want to be imposed on me.
I am my liberty and my playfulness,
The oceans that rage within my soul,
And the peace that steady my breath.
The chains that have been created for my soul,
Melt as the garden in me blooms

And I thank myself for being brave,

For thriving like the flowers through the pavement,

For the resilience in my veins,

And the battles lost with grace.
I have learned to forgive,
to allow the sorrow drain my soul
And to love again,
So the space within my chest is never empty
even as I grieve every love lost…
I smile to life,

As a grateful student,

And I thank the universe for the light

That shines bright within me,

for your existence,

For allowing me to receive you in my life
As the greatest gift life can allow me to experience,
And I thank you for the love,
The kindness and the peace,
But I also thank you for the times
my hand couldn’t reach you…
it made me strong and whole.
